So, it’s been a while since I updated the blog – the main reason for which was my preoccupation with undertaking a Masters in Creative and Critical Writing over the last two years. This is now complete – something I am proud and relieved about in equal measure.
There’s something wonderful about throwing yourself into a new learning endeavour at this stage in life. It is perhaps the first time I have genuinely prioritised the learning over the pub. Balancing my social life with coursework as a young person was quite challenging – not so much of an issue for your mid-life learner!

I’m genuinely delighted to have had the opportunity to dedicate time and attention to this endeavour of personal development . Though now I’m finished, it begs the question ‘now what?’
Writers write. It’s one of the things that differentiates us from non-writers. So, I am reanimating the blog, though I am now a little more than halfway to ninety…
Having my work published in two of our university anthologies was a thrilling experience. Being in community with other writers, in workshops and readings, is also a joy – once you get over the self consciousness / imposter syndrome bit!

Writers also need to be read ideally, so putting myself out there is a necessary evil, however uncomfortable it may be. I’m a writer and writers need to write!

I’m Halfway to Ninety and I identify as a writer.
